A few months ago I bought this reprint copy of the The American Card Catalog on eBay. I couldn't wait for it to arrive because I thought it was going to contain checklists for thousands of vintage and pre-War cards for me to add to mycardfolio.com. Well as anyone who's familiar with the ACC knows, it doesn't contain checklists. It's more a listing, description, and categorization of pre-War sets than it is a checklist. Don't get me wrong, it's very helpful and its use to collectors has stood the test of time since it was originally published in the mid-1900s. That being said, it's not exactly what I was looking for.
Now maybe it's because it's the time of year for resolutions and ambitious plan making, or maybe it's my OCD nature getting the better of me, but I've decided to turn this book into a project for the year.
By the end of 2010 I want to have every* card of every set in The American Card Catalog on mycardfolio.com!
*we won't be tracking non-cards like greeting cards and stamps.
I don't know much about pre-War cards so this should be educational for me and since I'll be posting about each set hopefully you'll learn something too. I'm also 100% sure we'll need your help if we're going to see this through to the end.
I'll post about the first set soon. Stay tuned!
Happy collecting,
